How to assemble the Alexapure water filter

The system comes with an easy guide that’s user friendly. Here’s how to assemble the system:

Step 1: Assembling the chambers

The Alexapure water filter system has two main chambers – the upper and the lower chambers made from stainless steel. To assemble the system you first have to dismantle the chambers to insert the water filter.

Remove the steel lid from the top chamber. Detach the bottom chamber from the top chamber and thoroughly clean each part.

The four holes in the top chamber are where you will insert the four filters.

Step 2: Attaching the spigot

Remove the spigot parts from their pack. Remove the top chamber and insert the spigot in the space provided at the bottom of the lower chamber.

Fasten the rear parts of the spigot towards the interior of the lower chamber.

Make sure it’s tight by pulling it up and down.

Step 3: Bring out the filter

The filter is packed in a secure box that’s white in color placed inside the chambers when you are unboxing initially.  The filters are to be installed into the holes you noticed in the chamber. You can fit one or all filters. A single filter supports up to 5000 gallons of water in its whole life.

Step 4: Unbox the filter

The filter is placed inside an air-locked bag that’s silver- colored to protect it from moisture. It is further packed in a foam gear to prevent damage and breakage during shipping.

Step 5: Understand the four filter holes

The top chamber has four holes where the filtration system will be inserted. Fasten the filter in either hole and block the other holes with rubber plugs to curb spillage.

Step 6: Remove One Rubber Plug

Insert the three rubber-tight seals in the filter holes and properly secure them. Ensure each plug is fastened in the holes of the upper chamber.

Remove one plug from the hole to insert the filter system.

Step 7: The filter space

Once you remove the rubber plug, you create space for the filter which should be inserted from the interior side of the chamber. A small part of the filter will be left sticking out from the bottom part of the chamber. It should be tightened and properly secured.

Step 8: Cut open the filter packaging

Tear open the filter packaging and gently pull the filter out. The filter is a black, smooth, cylindrical-shaped equipment made of a carbon block core and is covered in a silver ceramic shell infused with silver.

It should be wet upon unboxing.

Step 9: Insert the filter into the chamber’s hole and fasten it

Place the chamber horizontally on the table.

Now insert the filter into the hole where you had removed the rubber plug. It’s small end should go through the hole and come out to the other side.

Use a rubber ring/washer to fasten the filter from the other end. Tighten it around the end sticking out of the chamber to make sure it’s fastened and secured properly.

Alternatively, you can place the washer inside the chamber. Before inserting the small end of the filter into the hole, first put on the washer around it. This is an easier and quicker way to start the filter.

Once the filter is properly inserted, fasten the part sticking from the bottom of the chamber using the screwing tool that comes with the package.

Step 10: Place the top chamber over the bottom one

Secure the upper chamber on top of the lower one. Ensure it’s properly attached to avoid accidents.

Now enjoy clean and tasty water.

How to it works

The Alexapure water filter is a gravity- fed water filter, and this is how it works:

It has two chambers. The filter element is held in the upper chamber and it’s where you put the water you want to filter.

The lower chamber holds the water that has been purified.

The system comes with one filter element but you can use up to four filters simultaneously to speed up the process of filtration.

The filter has a carbon interior and a ceramic exterior. This exterior shell blocks the contaminants’ large molecules. The silver in the ceramic shell prevents growth of bacteria inside the filter.

The carbon block inside the filter filters out the contaminants that are microscopic like viruses.

Since the system is gravity- fed, water is pulled downwards by gravity through the filter into the collection chamber.  The spigot attached in the bottom chamber dispenses the purified water.

The system doesn’t require electricity or water pressure to work. This makes it convenient to use not only at home, but also when traveling or camping-just anywhere you need.

With Alexapure, you can use any kind of fresh water- from a lake/stream,city water,or well water. This makes it a great everyday use partner and is also great for emergency preparedness.

Salt water is the only water you shouldn’t put in the water filter because it ruins the filter.

How long does it take Alexapure to filter water

In about an hour it can filter one gallon of water. But that is if you keep the top chamber full of water.

When it’s full, the water pressure will help to push the water faster through the filter. As the water level goes down you will notice a slow down in the flow through rate.

For the filter to work faster,

  • It’s advisable to fill the top chamber. Always replace the amount of water dispensed
  • Or to add to the system more filter elements

Why is my Alexapure Water filter so slow

The filter’s performance varies due to water  turbidity, conditions of source water and seasonal fluctuations of water.

Drying out can also slow down the filter. For maximum capacity of filtration, keep the filter moist at all times.

Store your replacement filters at 35°F and above for best results.

These are some of the reasons why your Alexapure Water filter may not be working.

How do I clean my Alexapure Water filter

The water filter requires low maintenance.

Cleaning the chambers

The stainless steel outer surfaces of the chambers are easy to clean as they require dusting with a soft cloth.

Before your first use, it’s advisable to rinse the interiors with clean water.

Cleaning the filters’ exterior

Minerals present in untreated water cause build up on the hybrid ceramic shell of the filter unit.

Carefully remove the filters first from the upper chamber. Scrub them with a scouring pad and water but without soap to unclog the filter system. Thoroughly rinse the filters and return them in the upper chamber.

Changing the filters

Change the filter as soon as you notice drastic changes in the filter’s flow through rate.

How to maintain your Alexapure water filter

The system is low maintenance and doesn’t require a lot of work.

  • Scrub the outside of the filter element oftenly to get rid of buildup  which slows down the rate of filtration.
  • Replace the filter element when it reaches the end of its life.
  • Clean the interior of the bottom chamber after a few weeks. Use a sponge and dish soap, and thoroughly rinse it.
  • Dust the outside of the unit as frequently as needed.

How long does the Alexapure water filter last

The filter lasts about 2½ to 3 years in an average family of up to four members.

The system is good for up to 5,000 gallons of water. But you won’t often need water filter replacements if you add more of them.
